The Royal Saxon Way – Folkestone to Lyminge

Walking from Folkestone on 30/09/22 I embark on a new pilgrimage route, the ‘Royal Saxon Way’ with a final destination of Minster, near Ramsgate, Kent.

Taking in the peaceful promenade to the panoramic view of Tolsford Hill onto the day’s end point of Lyminge, I update my feelings about the Queen’s passing, the fall in value of the British pound and the concerning gas leak of Nordstream 2.

NB: At 02:52 I mention the route originates from the ‘Creative Pilgrims’ group, unfortunately I confused this with the nascent Way of Saint Martin; instead this route originates from a collaboration between Kent County Council and Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Beauty. My sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

The Tolsford Trek

Taking a hike along the walking route known as the ‘Tolsford Trek’ on 27/08/22 I commentate throughout the different stages of my journey. Whilst enjoying the panaroma overlooking the English Channel, passing through thick woodland, climbing tall hills and meandering down a calm track I reflect on the worrying onset of increasing energy prices whilst taking in the spectacular scenery and serenity of nature.

Ramblings In Nature

During a walk with my son Edison at Brockhill Country Park, Saltwood, Kent on 15/01/2022 I talk about how the world feels closer to normality after announcements that the Omicron variant is less damaging than was initially feared a few months ago.

Whilst I ramble about personal items, my son Edison explores nature; finding a stream, waterfall, camp and a woodland ‘cave’.

A Birthday Reflection

During a walk to the top of Summerhouse Hill in Etchinghill, near Folkestone, Kent on 09/11/2021 I discuss the impact of Covid-19; the many ways normality has resumed but express my long-term concerns.  Amid new vaccine regulations in France and Italy I also reflect on the personal challenges ahead.

Up High In Lockdown

At the summit of Summerhouse Hill, Folkestone on 07/11/20 I update on the newly introduced national lockdown and uncertainty surrounding the US election.
