The North Downs Way Pilgrimage – Cuxton to Boughton Lees

Setting off from Cuxton on 29/12/2025 along the North Downs Way, I share reflections and highlights from the pilgrimage route towards Detling.

Returning to the trail on 08/01/2026, I walk beneath shifting clouds, taking in Thurnham Castle and reflecting in the rain on the Detling–Lenham section.

The journey continues on 16/01/2026, with highlights from Lenham to Wye: the quiet calm of Eastwell Park, the evocative remains of St Mary’s Church, and a moment of personal delight as the route edges close to my home town. The video concludes at a significant junction where the North Downs Way divides—one path leading to Canterbury, the other to Dover—an ideal place to pause before beginning the next stage.

North Downs Way Pilgrimage: Otford to Cuxton

Heading off from Oxted, Surrey on 11/08/2025 along the North Downs Way I express my expectations and goals for my latest expedition. Passing the Coccolith artwork, I share a beautiful panoramic view, sight Chevening House and a herd of wild deer, before settling down for the night on the outskirts of Otford.

The following day, I reflect on my wild camping experience, the importance of pausing and enjoy the journey mindfully rather than just rushing to chalk off the miles and reach the destination. As I ramble on, I contrite about a recent incident with my son.

Sharing more images from the trail and a panaromic vista from Trottiscliffe, I provide commentary from the neolithic site – Coldrum Long Barrow, before arriving at a quiet spot outside Cuxton to sleep at dusk. As I leave in the mist the next morning, I reflect and look forward to the next stage of this enjoyable pilgrimage.
